Dream No More Artwork

Let me start off, by introducing the team that made this game possible. On Team Galaxy we have Imran Asari, Justin Forland, Brandon Bruseau, Michael Fratto, Trevor O'Neal, Kevin Davis and Andrew Malek. On the audio we have Dan Taylor, and the producer Scottie Newman. Last but not least me Aaron Arellano on art. I really appreciate all there hard work, because a video game takes a team effort. I know that for a fact. The first week I admit, were a little bit crazy. But we got through all that and started communicating. My initial designs, were a little different than what the team had in mind. But by working and keeping touch, I got what they wanted. This month in Game Production, was really, really tough. Especially time management with school, work, friends and family. But thanks to Rescue Time, it really helped me stay on track. Also its a really awesome feeling seeing something I created, go into a video game. Again I just want to thank my team and everyone else, that helped.

Postmortem Video Presentation - Team Galaxy - Dream No More (v2).

The princess, was probably the hardest part of this whole project. I had to make the idle, walk, dash and death sprites. But in the end, it proved fun to do and learn sprites.

For the fairy, I wanted to make a rival for the princess character. I paid special attention to design and color. The sprite sheet for her was a little bit easier to do, than the princess.

This is the final design for the start menu. I wanted to put some of the essence of my characters, into it. For the background, I chose a fantasy and changed the hues and color values.

For the level select, I got inspirations at other video games. I did the same thing for the background, like the start menu. But I changed it up a bit and added fancy borders.

The design team, also requested transitions, in between menus. Since I wanted the princess and fairy to be rivals. I came up with a sort of Tekken, Street fighter VS idea.

The second transition , drew heavily from anime chibi. I thought that all my designs were maybe a little bit to serious. So I came up with them fighting funny, to lighten up the mood.

The Health, heavy and light attack icons were tricky. I initially had swords, and spears. But the game had the player using only guns. So I went back and redesigned them. I also put the colors so that they would outstand.
